• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Autogen disappearing with ground polygon

Hi,

I add a square ground polygon with a 4096x512 pixels texture over a runway to recreate an old military airstrip (8220x150 feet).

A soon as I compile the new bgl of my airport, a great part of the autogen trees disappears each side of the polygon. I remove the ground polygon, the trees come back!

What can be the problem here?

Thanks

Hi,

That's normal behavior. I assume your runway is not oriented north-south, so the area affected will be bigger size it takes the bounding box of the object.

How did you make the runway? There are option to get the autogen back.

Thanks Arno,

I forgot to said that the autogen is OK with the runway alone. It's just when I add the ground polygon over it that the empty square appears.

I put temporarly four blocks on the corners of the empty square. There is an little road exclude directly over the bridge.

JP, when you say "ground poly", do you mean an ADE-GP ground poly or some sort of terrain poly. You should be able to add this runway cover with an ADE-GP, either a poly or a line. To avoid loss of autogen, compile with a small area size, say 100m, setting.

ADE-Gp, yes.
What do you mean by : "compile with a small area size"? My poly have to be the same size of the runway, 8200x150 feet, and my texture is 2048x512, otherwise this will be very difficult...

During the compilation of an ADE file that contains GPs, a small dialog entitled "Compile Parameters" appears. It contains 3 radio buttons and 3 text boxes. Check the third radio button and enter 100m in the bottom text box.

You're welcome. If FPS is an issue, you can experiment with Group Size to see what larger number still gives satisfactory results.
