Back when I flew the A2A B-17G in FSX(A) I could turn on the autopilot master switch and the altitude hold switch and use the yoke to steer and keep in the formation with the heading Hold off. Much easier and neater than turning the heading knob all the time. Now that I am flying the Virtavia B24 in the same sim it will not do that. Even with the heading hold switch off the aircraft will not respond to the yoke though the yoke moves in the cockpit. Ed and I fly together in JoinFS going forward with the 461st BG VA. He uses P3DV4.5 and his aircraft responds to the yoke and turns with AP master and just Altitude Hold on. We thought it might be a difference in aircraft because he is using an Alphasim that he converted to work in P3D with permission. So tonight we tried everything checking settings in the aircraft.cfg matching autopilot entries AND even swapping his ALPHA_B24.air and my Virtavia_B24.air renaming it. It works perfectly as far as the aircraft is concerned but the my yoke will still not turn the aircraft with AP Master on. Thoughts and suggestions solicited from the experts here please. Is it different sims that is the reason? In FSX explanation of the Autopilot they state that real autopilots do not allow use of the yoke to change pitch or yaw. The only exception is airliners with CWS or "Control Wheel Steering" option in their CMD/CWS autopilot which I AM aware of that are designed that way for real and like PMDG or iFly in the sim.
