• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AVSIM has been repporting 503 service Unavailable for several hours in the UK. It's after dropped some facilities earlier today.

Any others having problems?

Chuggingly slow when it is available, so I don't often bother with it, plus I'm less of an airliner and GA fan.

They're in performance mode now, you can get in but stuff like View New Content doesn't work.

Well, that just makes my moderation job a bit easier for the next few days then... :rotfl:

I'm getting on to the forums... sorry Bill.

In the past I've been critical of AVSIM's downtime and lumbering slowness. But it has a huge number of members that visit every day... sometimes many times a day. I sympathize.

I don't think we'll have those problems here. We're a rather small (and at times odd) group.

I never even noticed :duck:been a year since I last went there, my respect for the human race has grown since

Btw I think you have to be odd to be a FS developer, its almost a badge of honor among some :D

Not me.

I'm the only damn sane one in the whole damn place.

At least that is what the voices in my head keep telling me.

Now, if you'll excuse me, apparently I have to go set fire to something.

1) Log into Avsim (if you can)
2) Click "New Thread" in the FSX forum
3) Write an elaborate troll post about why PMDG sucks
4) Watch the fireworks from afar

It would take quite an effort to write such a post.

Skill Level Required: Master Troll.

Let's hope AVSIM are being well paid for that?
It goes almost without saying that any banner driven site gets revenue based on a fairly fixed percentage of hits. A few hits = a few bucks, many hits = many bucks. Therefore, it stands to reason that if you establish a certain level of performance, i.e. serving 62 billion documents per hour and PMDG, or anyone, announces something that makes your hits exceed your capacity, you are definitely "in the money" and only wishing you had rented a bigger server/more bandwidth in order to reap the current windfall.
It is not at all like catering to or serving PMDG, rather very much the other way around.
