• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Background Image - FSSC

Hello all!

I'm working on photoreslistic background for an airport in FS2k4, using FSSC.

Lets say that I have an area of 3000x3000 meters and i want to do a background with a resolution of 1m/pixel. Obviously my image should be 3000px X 3000px. I have this image, but when I try to put it into FSSC using "Background Image", or FSSC gives me an error on line 283 ( I think ) at frmTexture.frm ( looks like FSSC is done in VisualBasic =p ) or, when I compile the scenery, it reduces the image to 1024x1024 and the resolution goes a waaaayyy down.

So, whats the correct procedures do create a backgoround with a high resultion image( like the example that i said above )?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Yes, that is correct. FSSC can only use one texture as a background image and thus it is limited to 1024x1024 size.

If you want a bigger grid for your background, you will have to create it with another tool. For example with GMax (using the Fs2002 gamepack). Of course this means you will have to split your image into tiles as well, as FS does not like images above 1024x1024.

Thank you both.
Arno, where can I find a tut teaching how to do BG images in GMax? Another thing, if I create the BG in GMax, the objetcts will cast shadows over this background? ( because normally, shadows casts only on "non-gmax" models ).

I was thinking of doing some ground with this quality:

You think this ground and markings was done with GMax?

( I found this link on an Arno's post, but it seems to bem invalid: http://www.scenerydesign.org/forum/showpost.php?p=1968&postcount=14 ).

Thanks,
Fergo
