• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi guys,

Some of you may remember my Bell 222 from 2010 which was released last year. Well here is a completely revamped version. The old model used 2D gauges throughout and many of the systems were very basic or sparse. This new model has 3D gauges throughout and systems will hopefully be implemented. Currently, I am working on a base model which is shown in the following shots. Expansions will follow adding police, medical, search & rescue variants. This is going a highly detailed, high poly model with 161,576 polys for the exterior and 90,048 polys for the interior and so far, performance is outstanding, even on a crummy slow laptop  Many of the custom XML used in this project has been provided here at FSDeveloper including the 3D lighting system which is still a work in progress. This project will be freeware and will be released when it is done. I work on this on a limited basis with little to no input for anyone else. Anywho, hope you all enjoy this small preview of this rare (yes they are rare nowadays) helicopter

Thanks mate. This has been a real challenge developing a complex helicopter such as this, good thing is that I have the flight and maintenance manuals on hand to assist me....getting the VC to function has been a chore :yikes: Since I am using the stock Bell 206 FDE on this one, I have it set up to where it will function as a twin engine helicopter, even though the B206 FDE doesn't support multi engine helos like the EH101 FDE does

Looking spectacular! What program are you modeling this in?

Some of you may remember my Bell 222 from 2010 which was released last year.

I don't actually as I've only recently become interested in helicopters, I'll seek it out to tide me over until this version is ready. Thanks :) .

This one is being modeled in 3DS Max 9. I originally exported the original model from Max to gmax, but have since switched back for this new version.

Your pics look really good! Airwolf would be cool....If you ever need help on technical questions please feel free to message me. I just happen to finish the beta version for the Moquito XE3. I really enjoy making helo's from time to time. I recently posted a new tutorial and code for real world swashplate animation effects.

As a bit of friendly advice, do not under any circumstances "advertise" that you will be offering an "Airwolf" version. Several years ago, a fellow with the user name "Ragtopjohnny" and some friends worked for many months on a openly announced "Airwolf" and were summarily forced to shutdown their work after receiving a Cease and Desist from the IP owners...

I heard about that a while back. Since I don't have a mesh of the AW model in hand, no previews yet and will be a long time before anything does come to fruitation, "IF" it does.

For anyone keeping tabs on development on my Bell 222, I have progress quite well in coding and artwork. Here are some new shots of the current build

Good job George!

Yeah, you could add some life to the interior with the Paint Deformation as Tom suggested.

One thing I also noticed is that wooden panel in the 2nd interior shot, it looks really nice!

Will paint deformation work in max 9? This is the program I use to create and export the Bell 222 into FSX

I will try it out later, although the seats in the helicopter doesn't have that many grooves in them since they are cloth seats, if that is the correct term. I have other seats/materials planned at a later date. In the meantime, I am looking for seat material patterns for use in photoshop, anyone might know where I can get some good ones at?
