• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello. I am currently experiencing an issue with the terrain having a big gap, and different elevation outside of my project area. Any way to debug, and fix?

I can confirm this is present in 2020; I see a raised area of terrain and water that "should" be lower as it descends in 'steps'.

I may not get to test this until tomorrow (Wednesday), but in 2020 one may try a Polygon that TerraForms local water and land.

It may also need a new water Polygon that blends via an offset into higher water elevations from Hovden down to Bykle Helipad.

Thanks for the input. I managed to level the water by placing a polygon, but all the smaller islands had to be adjusted, so it was not optimal. Anyways..worked. Thank you :)

I was a bit quick to solve the mentioned issue, before actually identifying the problem area. I placed a terraforming polygon covering the southern half of the lake, which basically lowered the part which was actually at a correct elevation. This issue was made clear when adapting my scenery to msfs2024 which does not have the mentioned issue and therefore looked off.

I found that the mid section of the lake have a big square which is slightly elevated than the rest of the lake. To correct, I just placed a rectangle over the relevant area and adjusted the terrain accordingly.

Hi Vetle:

What you describe above is what I originally saw, but I had somehow spawned at the wrong location, so there may be a number of locations in the region which show that type of anomaly (we have seen this in various world regions in all prior FS versions).

I have not yet tested this location with / without default MSFS 2020 photogrammetry to compare impact on water body rendering.

Glad to see you have found a work around.

BTW: FS typically adjusts water elevations in sloped terrain using stepped level water polygons at variable assigned Altitudes (...not sloped).

I'm looking forward to testing your newest scenery today.
