• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Blender to MSFS

Hi im trying to make an edit to the ju-52 model exterior LOD01 but when i try to export the model it ends up with an invisible exterior and only the interior appears. Am i using the blender to msfs exporter wrong. I can import the model fine but can't export back into the game. I'm trying to create a door fix for the ju-52 so my livery appears correctly. I would be simply moving to uv layout of the door so the textures are correct. I would not be physically changing the model just where to model gets its texture as it is a mirrored part.

Any help would be appreciated

Don't know whether this will help: Sounds like the normals of the surface that's disappearing are pointing inward instead of outward. While the model is in Blender, select it and go into Edit mode. Select All (faces) with the A key, and then under the Mesh menu, choose Normals and click Recalculate Outside. This happens to me a lot when I create surfaces for decals and such from curves and bevels. Also, there's a way to show the normals. Consult the manual if you don't know it. HTH

I had a try and same result, thanks anyway. Maybe I'm using the exporter wrong. All i want to do is move the uv layout of the rear door of the JU-52 so it mirrors a texture from a more suitable location and is scaled correctly. This way the door will have the correct metallics etc. from the fuselage 2 COMP file unlike the current door fix available on flightsim.to.

Unfortunately to make any changes you need to re-rig the entire model (in my experience). Animations, reassign textures and levels etc. Once you have 'possession' of the model then you can make any changes. And the blender exporter doesn't seem to like armatures so anything bendy needs to be completely re-done. I'd love if there were better solutions, and perhaps there are, but not that I've found with Blender so far.

Hmm, and then I find this regarding armatures: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/blender-armature-animation-support-thread.453672/
