• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi All,

This is the first scenery I make (or try to make) with GMax.
I have made 10 sceneries with SBuilderX and ADE.
Now I also have a very good Photoreal.
When I import this Photoreal in GMax I have a blurred image.

Which image should I import, BMP or JPEG?
How can I put all sliders in the middle in the "Color Selector"?

Which video driver are you using in GMAX? And have you set the sizes to 1024?

BMP files can be sharper than JPG, assuming equal pixel size.

Hi Tom,
thanks for your very quick response.
As Video Driver I have set "Direct3D".

But I don't know how and where to set the sizes to 1024.
Sorry, but despite all my previous sceneries I am a newbie in GMax.

Peter

Is there anything to help you in these links:

I haven't used Gmax in years since moving to 3DS so I am rusty when it comes to settings.

Hi, Larry,

I have adjusted all my settings as described in the files above.
I will try again now.
Thanks Larry
Btw a good tutorial, thanks Tom!

@Tom, sizes set to 1024.

I tried it with the new settings above, this gives a little less blurred.
I changed the drivers to "OpenGL", no change.
Set drivers to "HEIDI", and this gives a Fatal Error.
Restarting GMax gives different error messages.

These are other settings, when I move the slider of "Color Selection/Sat" all the others change.
I can't place this one in the middle without the others moving.

Is "FlightSimX" a correct setting?

PROBLEM SOLVED!
In the "Color Selector" I also moved the fourth slider (HUE) to the middle.
This gave me a blurred image.

Hi Peter:

Just out of curiosity, why are you making a G-Poly for P3Dv4 or v5 with GMAX rather than with Sketchup or Blender ?

Do you plan to make a legacy type G-Poly in SCASM / ASM format with VTP layers via MCX G-Poly Wizard when you are finished ?

Hi Gary,
as said above I am a complete newbie when it comes to GMax.
From tutorials and videos I have seen that I have to insert my photoreal into GMax to create a usergrid.
Because it is much too big it has to be made smaller.
I have succeeded in doing that in the meantime.
But I got a blurred image, I have also solved that in the meantime.

I do not intend to make a Groundpolygon for P3Dv4.
The intention is to insert a photoreal into GMax to create a usergrid.
Grtz
Peter
