BMP format and DXT question

Hi,

In a tool coded in C#, I try to import a .bmp file in a the .Net Bitmap class... but it crash. In the wiki, I can see that FS use a special bmp file format with special header and DXT compression.

I'm used to read&parse simple .txt file, but I don't know anything on reading a file byte/byte and more how DXT or other compressor work. But i'm ready to try & search more...

Do you know if a simple command line executable which can decode this type of file exist ? Or can someone help me to understand better the way to decode those .BMP file compressed with DXT ?

thx

Hi,

You could use ImageTool from the SDK to read the files and export them to plain BMP files.

But I am not sure if that fits in your workflow. Alternatively I could also provide you the DLL files I use to read them in my tools.

Hi Arno,

thx for your answer, as I see you already code something like this... so i must admit that your DLL would be very usefull :)
