• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA BN2A MKIII Trislander

Still in the texturing phase, but coming along nicely. These shots are in P3DV3, courtesy of Matt Wynn.

Experimenting with the side prop effects found in Carenado/Alabeo aircraft and some freeware models. I am looking for the proper techniques that allows them to display properly in FSX instead of what is shown in the screenshots. Exterior mapping nearly finished, interior mapping has begun and seats are in the process of being built.

Have you thought about using a Fresnel ramp to control the transparency based on view-angle? if you made it quite heavily weighted to a perfect view-to-normal, it should look okay. By the way, please feel free to get in touch with me if you're using 3dsMax for shadow baking, I might be able to offer some assistance.

@Jordi Ambient occlusion has been done, but not by me though. I have a texture artist doing the artwork including the AO baking and special effects, apart from the liveries, I'm just modeling and coding. Propeller side view effects have been corrected as well and are displaying really well in FSX/P3D.

While work on the exterior has pretty much been halted and near finished, interior work will continue. Panel and seats are in process of being produced, will preview those when development gets further along.

Unlike the livery and plane itself (not your fault), those are some damn good looking props.

P.S:
I'm pretty sure there'll also be some love for a regular Islander.

I've always wanted a Trislander, so there is one coming. The spinning propeller textures and alphas I made myself, I must say they came out really good. I have some ideas planned for this project, just got to put that idea in motion once I get more further into development.

And as for an Islander, thought about it. Maybe at some point down the road, I'll consider doing one, but there are so many variations, I wouldn't know what would be the popular choice to do.

You could do the Turbine Islander, that one hasn't been done yet.

As long as there are manuals and diagrams available, along with lots of reference images, the yes. I would like to do a piston Islander as well as some of the parts on my Trislander will fit this aircraft as well.

Main panel work in progress. Lots of placeholders, so things will change as development progresses

The fan version looks interesting, are there any close up images of the engine(s)/fan(s) anywhere?

Whoa, looking fantastic, panel work looks great so far, and so do the prop effects! I remember on holiday on Jersey before they stopped Trislander services there Joey being the one we looked out for, so great to see it represented.

Keep it up!
