• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Boundary Fence doesn't appear

Boundary fences have always worked fine for me, but at one airport it doesn't appear at any angle.

Any idea why this would occur? I"m using the same procedure I always did.

which airport Jon?
can i take it this is a default/stock airport you have started with?
i also notice you are using an old version of ADE and not v1.50.44, not that this is the issue
 
Hi Ray, it's CFA4, Carcross, YT. I'm actually putting the boundary fence around an adjacent electrical substation, there isn't one around the runway area. But I tried placing one there too and nothing appeared. Tried a bunch of different types of fences.

The origin of the facility file is lost in the mists of time as I first worked on it in 2006. It may be based on FS9 or FSX default. Unlikely it was scratch.

i can see the fence easily enough, but i can also make it disappear easily as well,
i think this is the usual draw problem we have had with the draw engine in FSX that has always been there,
unfortunately there is no solution AFAIK

You can make your own fence in GMAX, Sketchup, Blender, FSDS or similar programs. Its not hard, just need a verticle plane with the meshing. Post wont be very hard.
 
Ya, Ray, this is different, it doesn't appear at all. I assume you're looking at the default.

I was too lazy to adapt my own, Kevin, I have lots of gmax fence models. So I'll have to do that.

yes Jon the stock/default airport,
i always look at the stock first so it becomes a process just to find out where your file originated from.................
i found it very easy to make the fence disappear hovering around the airport, one of the worst i think I've seen, but it does show up at most angles.........
 
Just as well I'm making a custom fence then!
