• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Building a fictional airport & Navigation data

Hello colleagues
I am currently building a fictional airport that does not exist in reality to be part of the MSFS.
Things were going well until I stopped when I added the ILS to the runway.

I know exactly how to add the ILS (Localizer + Glide Slope) and its locations, but after it was added to the airport and the project was built and placed in the community Folder, the planes did not recognize the ILS or the entire new airport.

I have 2 questions:
1- How is the new - fictitious - airport added to the simulator’s data, and how is this airport added to the commercial aircraft computer FMC?
2- How do I add the airport’s navigation data, such as the ILS for a specific runway, to the simulator data and how do the planes recognize it? Thus, I can choose a specific runway for automatic landing from the plane’s computer.

Thank you

The Airport will not work if you are using NavData for navigation. I have built my own airport with all the bells and whistles and it works quite well. However i built mine using ADE for MSFS2000. Which is now achieved.! You most likely have already added your Comms, but if not add them as well.

Yes

I added the comms, and it works well, and the airport appears normally in the sim world map.

The problem is that when I fly with Fenix a320 for example, the FMC doesn't recognize the airport.

Any ideas??

Is Fenix the only aircraft this happens with? Fenix is one of the addons that uses its own navdata. Your airport is not in the Fenix Database

Ok. Are you using the Sim's navdata or are you using Navdata from Navigraph? The only other thing that comes to mind is: If you are using navdata from Navigraph your fictional airport will not appear in the aircraft FMC. For example. When i want to fly the PMDG 737--, I have to have Navigraph installed and if i want my fictional airport to show up in the FMC. I have to edit the Navdata files of Navigraph in order for my fictional airport to show up in the PMDG FMC. Navigraph navdata does not support fictional airport.

Thanks, V- pilot

Thanks, Gelomare

Does that mean that any default plane that uses the sim navdata will support and read the ILS and navigation data of my fictional airport?

And does this mean that once i build my airport package, the navigation data of the fictional airport will be added automatically to sim navdata, or should i edite any specific file?

Your fictional airport can be used by all default aircraft in the sim. I mostly fly Boeing and they all use the default sim Navdita that comes with the Sim. Again, the only exception i have is when fly the PMDG Aircraft. i then have to use the Navigraph Navdata. Your airport can also be used by many adorn aircraft such as those made by Horizon Simulation, Salty 757 and others...
Hope things work out!
