• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Bulk shoreline assignment?

Greetings,
Here's the scenario. I'm dealing with a large amount of vector at the moment and need to assign approximately 1352 different shorelines. Now, I could very well do all of these slowly, one by one in SBuilderX over the course of the next few months, but I figured maybe, just maybe, there is some way to bulk assign shorelines, whether this is a different program, or simply a basic tool in the FSX SDK?

Everything is imported into SBuilderX at the moment, where I have filtered out the polygons, leaving just the lines behind. (Which where conveniently created when I imported the .bln file from SBuilderX 3.14 to 3.13) I have never worked with data on this large of a scale, so most of this is new to me..

Thanks!

I think you could export the lines as an SBX file, which is a text file. You could then a text program to add or alter the assignments. That might save some time.

Hi CB,

if those shoreline vectors are the only ones currently in your SBX project file then simply use the Line Tool, then Select > All Lines, then right-click somewhere on the screen (inside the SBX window) and select Properties.

If you have other vectors already in your project then, when first importing those shoreline vectors, you can give them all a descriptive name in the Append menu ("Name or Label of Imported Lines"), which will then allow you to later edit all of them in bulk via the Edit > Find > Line Names menu.

Cheers, Holger

Thanks Dick!
Never knew that. Opens up with no issues in Wordpad. Replaced all the proper lines and re-appended. All is good. :)
