• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Cache or Build Location?

Is there a cache or build location that I am unaware of? I have tried to remove unused objects from my mobelLib folder (and texture for the .png) and then rebuilt the package (tried in game and the external one, also deleting the current "Packages" folder out there for the project before hand) and yet when I go in and load the scenery, I'm still able to place the object and it still has it's texture. This is after I've rebuilt the project with the folder and texture completely removed. So that leads me to believe there is a cached version that is saved somewhere and Objects window is not updating accordingly. Has anyone found where this folder may be or where this cache is? I see others that have issues all the time with their Objects browser not updating and I myself have had the same issues, I'm wondering if this is part of the reason?

Edit: I might have figured out the issue. If you have the older package in your community folder, it seems like it wasn't updating the Objects list and was keeping the old Objects. Deleting the old folder out of community and keeping it out of there while developing seems to solve the issue. Will need to do further research to confirm.

There absolutely is a hidden cache. I had issues with custom textures, if I took 1 .PNG, added a custom material, later deleted it and took a different .PNG with the same name and trying to add a new custom texture, it will take the original texture and not the new one. I'll get a GIF of what I'm talking about later but we absolutely need a way to flush the cache.

I saw the same happening, for now I had to use different model names as a workaround
