• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS24 Camera Mod`s for Cockpit Builders FS20/24

As is well known, since FS2020 there has been no good way to set up a free panoramic view in the cockpit. You are enclosed. Various solutions, such as shifting the view forward or changing the eyepoint, are unfortunately also suboptimal.

I am now presenting a method that creates the necessary freedom with a single shortcut while also ensuring that all functions of the internal cockpit remain available at all times. The solution is an add-on for the respective aircraft, which is simply copied into the community folder. After that, free movement is possible and the checklists also work when accessed from outside the cockpit. Only one shortcut is used for the whole thing. Usually Shift+0 or Shift+9, depending on the aircraft.
Here is a short video as an attachment.

The BonanzaPro shown in the video is the first one. The downloads are freely accessible. Registration is not necessary.

I haven't really been keeping up with the times, but I recall seeing a "Home Cockpit Mode" (Settings → General → Camera) in the settings?

Screenshot of FS2024 settings, general page, camera section, with Home Cockpit Mode highlighted.

I'm not familiar with what the setting does, but the description ("This places the camera in the center of the cockpit and disables the virtual cockpit from rendering.") makes it sound similar to what you describe at the start of the post? Is there some limitation of Home Cockpit Mode that I'm unaware of that makes your addon advantageous?

Good luck, that was already completely ineffective in FS2020 and nothing has changed. There is no such thing as a truly clear view.

I am curious if this also offers an Eyepoint reposition preset to put Cockpit camera below the aircraft for scenery inspection / videos etc. ?

Normally FS Cockpit Eyepoint camera repositioning is slow (to allow control ?) and a setting is not saved (like FS' Chase View camera position).

I'm thinking of an alternative to the MSFS "Drone" and DevMode Camera that works in slew mode as well as while flying.

(I'm toying with the idea of a FinneyGround aircraft CrossHairs Plus-type aircraft with additional features / views in MSFS :scratchch)

Thanks for sharing this with the FSDEV community. :)

PS: IIUC, when FSDEV's Xenforo forum "attaches" your video, it only 'links' to it, so buffering disrupts playing a video from your own server.

I am curious if there is a way to make playing videos not hosted on YouTube etc. less susceptible to buffering if it is not cached by FSDEV ?

Hi Gary,
I was actually just looking for a way to overcome the prison in the cockpit because I have my own. There is no influence on the simulation because I am “forcing” an instrument view that is not absolutely necessary. The aircraft then behaves not much differently than if you switch to an instrument view inside.

I am curious if there is a way to make playing videos not hosted on YouTube etc. less susceptible to buffering if it is not cached by FSDEV ?
I don't know. But YouTube simply inserted advertisements into my videos, which I don't benefit from. My videos can also be downloaded and viewed locally. Incidentally, in Germany, I rarely experience any interference from my server.

This can also be positioned under the nose of the aircraft and flown.

Incidentally, I have made all my add-ons available for download without registration in the same place, as far as MSFS is concerned. My scenery too.

All Addons working in FS2020 and FS2024. I am 76 years and my development is ending
