• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Its possible to use scenproc to create road traffic for the photoreal scen?? if not, I think it can be very usefull...

Not yet. But it has been suggested before, so it's on the todo list.

Traffic

The photoscenery that I have has traffic on the motorways, I've always wondered how and why only there, anyone know?

Most likely you just see the default traffic. That's on motorways only.

ScenProc with some manipulations can prob generate the data for you

you could export your data to bln using scenproc
than import your lines into SbulderX for editing GUID

FsxKml is a Little tricky, I mean sometimes fail and not sure why. once you get the hang , créate road traffic will be very easy, don't forget to get the "prefsxkml tool" to fix the problem with vértices of the kml files from google earth.cab be dowloaded here in FsDeveloper.

Traffic

I managed to get traffic on all my roads by taking the vector roads .bgl's from a scenery package I purchased for Ireland but didn't much like and swapping them into my photoscenery scenery folder, lights came with it too. It's just for my own use obviously. If this post is inappropriate I apologise.

A suggestion to Arno if decides to make this feature:

As scenproc can detect from GIS data the differents roads, If you make the road traffic feature would be nice to have control about the amount of vehicles and speed, depending of the different types of roads(Primary, secondary, residential, etc..).
Also a step to make trees dissapear along the roads with a value to set the distance from the center would be very usefull to avoid deleting with annotator by hand, or repeating the heavy process of detection trees. ;)

Alberto.

(sorry for bad english)

the amount of cars and speeds are configurable through your sliders
the amount of cars is calculated by population in the area your in

as for trees on roads etc, the technique is different
i always prefer using SvcenProc when possible
in this case the faster route especially for large areas is to use Vogel Tree tool
you detect trees roughly, than use mask technique with Vogel AGN tool to remove stray trees from the roads

Chris

Well but im talking about set differents amounts or speed for each different kind of road, not about population as the program do. Maybe im wrong cos im not an expert, but you can´t set slow speed and low amount for residential roads, combined with slow speed and high amouont for primary, and high speed with less traffic for highways with the sliders... and i think it would be nice to set this values with scenproc. It´s only a suggestion.. and I also preffer as you, to use scenproc everytime i can. :)

there is a population density file in fsx
which determines the amount of traffic in a given area
you can try to modify that to get a different volume of traffic

Chris

Thank you Chris, nice to know that, but maybe its not a good idea when you want to share for free or distribute your scenery. I think that is better to contain all this values for the roads in a scenery FSX file, instead making changes to an internal config file.. As i told you before, im not an expert, and i don´t really know if its possible. Anyway, the purpose of the suggestion is to use scenproc when possible, so thank for all those solutions (i sucessfully tried vogel tree tool, and now im learning vogel AGN tool as you recommend me), but i still think it can be very usefull to add all these features to scenproc and give more realistic to the traffic only for the working scenery, without any change to the internal files and all with easy code steps.

there is no way around that, thats just how FSX works
scenproc will not change any fsx.cfg config which is where you define car speeds and volume
via the population density the engine decides how much should be visible in the area your in
the most you can config as far as roads vectors go, is the lane numbers and the direction of traffic

im glad you found Vogels tools, they are great tools to compliment ScenProc
it may be little confusing at first to get Vogels tool going but once you do; you will love it

the amount of cars and speeds are configurable through your sliders

Chris is this true? Speeds are also configurable through the slider? I thought speeds were coded into the LWcfg.xml file for the vehicles. But maybe I missed something the last few years, would be great if it is :)

If adding support for road traffic is planned, would it also be possible to make scenProc a frontend for more shp2vec functionality?

The famous LWcfg.xml file, it remember me I have to change the speed of those crazy vehicles again, (new reinstallation). and don't remember how it was :(
