• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Can't find the AIFP3 aircraft preview window?

Hi All,

I am a seasoned user of AIFP3, and am coming back after a long break.

I remember in the past I would be able to right click on an aircraft in the AIRCRAFT LIST on the right and it would load a 3d preview for me. I can't seem to find out how to do that anymore, and searching this forum has brought up zero results.

It was the way I used to be able to make sure that my aircraft were working in sim, as if they showed up there, they would also show up in the sim, so an important part of any install for me!

Thanks for any replies, I am probably just being a moron!

Cheers,

Jack

Left click on the aircraft to select it, then right-click on the aircraft for the pop-up menu, then "View AC Image" ... works for me :)

Sorry for the late reply... and Thank you for yours!

I once again am compiling some files with AIFP3.

When I right click on the aircraft there is no option for that:

Same thing, when I open the editor the button for "Show Image" is greyed out:

Any advice? I do have a working version of ModelConverterX installed... it used to be as simple as you said for me before, and was the easiest way for me to check things were installed properly!

Many thanks!

Is the aircraft you've right-clicked on displayed in red (doesn't exist) or black (should be there!)?

Thanks for your reply!

It's black and loads and displays just fine in ModelConverterX (and in my sim - TESTED and working after compiling here in AIFP3)

The plane probably has a file hierarchy that AIFP doesn’t understand. No biggie.

Mr. Gibson,

Thank you for your reply.

You are absolutely right, it was because certain files such as AIA have file structures such as "model.winglets" and "model.no_refl" rather than a standard model folder.

I am a huge fan by the way, in fact I would go as far as to say you opened up the world of retro AI to me when I was a boy (I am 30 now!) Your scenery, aircraft and traffic led to me flying in parts of the world I had never dreamed of (the multi leg hops across the atlantic, or down to south africa from heathrow, even flying a PA140 around Namibia, because I found it in your flightplans!) They are still some of my fondest ever simming memories and I am keen to recreate them one day soon.

Congratulations on getting all of the files hosted on your own site, re: the flightsim.com outage I have been missing them dearly in my latest install!

Kindest Regards,

Jack

Thanks for the kind words Jack, I appreciate that. Glad I was able to help.
