• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Can't open SPB files

Hello

I used X SBuilder without problem on a computer, and created many projects, as SPB files.

I have to travel, and installed all my design tools on a laptop. I installed X SBuilder, with Manifold toolbar, ...
I installed Tools from SDK
I copied and installed all my ManifoldToolBar cache.
Everything works properly for a new project.

But I have an important problem with projects previously created on first installation; I tried to open the SPB files to work them. I get the following error message:

errorsbplc1.jpg

The first mentionned path (M:\utilites\outils...) is the one of the first computer, where SPB have been created. Did saving project store such info, and now can't open the file if this path is no longer available (laptop install path is G:\_outils_\...)

How can I recover all my work on the laptop install?
If not, I must continue my work allways on the first computer.

Thanks for help! Pierrot - FMEP

Same folders' names

Hi, Pierrot

Try to use the same folders' names in both couputers or export the project from the first and read on the second computer (File type .SBX)

This may sound dumb of me, but are you referring to SBP files for SBuilderX or SPB files that are used in things like the FSX Missions? The SPB files are a specially formatted file that I was not aware SBuilderX could compile and decompile.

Hello,

This is a bug that has been corrected. That M:\XXXX folder is the scenery folder where BGLs will be copied into. Until I release the next version, may be you could create a dummy folder using the drive letter M. Then you change the the BGLProjectFolder to a proper folder and save the project again.

I am sorry for this problem,

Luis

Thanks!

Ok! I insert a USB key with dummy "\utilites\..." needed path, and named the drive M:
I can open my files now. I'll test if all works correctly.

Import SBX has same problems as open SBP. On other way (without key and dummy path) I tried to use the "append SBX" option: it adds all the polys, lines, but not at good position; it seems to use the current position; is there a way to append at good position? Is there a reference position in SBuilder files, and does it need to start new project, "Go to" this position, and append(SBX or BLN)?

You say that next release will correct this little bug. Will it allow to open such files created with present release containing an absent path?

Thanks for help, and precious tool!
