• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Carb icing trigger

hi all

I am building a series of missions flying the DC3 in Alaska. I want to create a property trigger that will inform the user of the problem when the engines lose power when the carb builds up ice.

I tried setting a engine combustion property .. less than 80% triggers dialog action. This doesn't seem to work, even when the engine RPM drops way down.

Any ideas?

Also.. can someone clue me to the procedure to get my engines running after carb ice. I turn on carb heat.. the gauge returns to green range. Engines appear to be running but I have no power...

Temp at Alt

Ok, the problem is not carb icing.. I run with carb heat on from msision start but as soon as I get over 8000 feet and it is minus 20 F I have trouble.

It looks like fuel pressure goes low.. but pump boost makes no difference. This does seem to be related to temperature..

Sorry, didn't get your point. I think it's just the altitude combined with cload air that the Dakota loses power.

sudden change

The thing is the change was very sudden.. engine drops from 2800 RPM to almost idle.. both engines.. and nothing I can do to change it.

Related: changes I make to the weather don't always seem to save, and sometimes I go back and check and entirely new temperature layers are added to stations I have set. Is this a known issue? thanks

weather module

Thought so... do the add on weather packs work around this then?

Also.. if I buy an add on weather pack, can I create WX files for us in add on missions when the user doesn't have the same weather add on?

Hi Viking,

I think the problem, as already suggested, is the combination of cold air and high altitude that's causing the engine troubles.

The only way a WX file would fix this, is if it were to create a warm air temperature at suitable operating altitudes, which I guess wouldn't be appropriate for the environment you are trying to create.

All the best,

Alex

throttle triggers

Yeah, thanks all, I had to tone down the cold temperature.

Anyone know how to use the engine combustion trigger?

The engine combustion trigger is boolean (true/false). Basically the engine is running or not.
