Hello everyone!
I am currently working on a new generation of Bahrometrix Living People - they should be able to speak and they should be able to change their facial expressions. A possible application could take place in the cockpit, where, for example, the pilot or co-pilot presses switches and buttons and outputs a corresponding audio:
Among other things, I'm known for tackling special topics in the flight simulator in a playful way. For example, if you look at animated people in the flight simulator, you usually see expressionless faces.
With a new generation of characters in MSFS, more "life" should be brought into the flight simulator world:
At the beginning of my work with characters, it was rather simply animated people and only later did conditionally controlled people come along and a little later context-related animated people came along. With each additional generation, the resolution of the textures and the models increased, PBR was added, etc. At the moment I'm still exploring the various possibilities for animating the lips and the face, and these topics are addressed:
- Recording of the face by a camera (face tracking)
- Animation of lip movements through text (phonetics)
- Animation of lip movements by audio (audio lip sync)
Here is another sample video that also shows how different facial expressions can be recreated using the Morpher modifier. The eye movements, in turn, were recorded using a LookAt constrain:
