• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello everyone !

Here is another project of mine, which I intent to release after my Fokker 130, the COMAC C919.
I have made this model entirely from pictures, as there are no blueprints at this time.

I really like the way the C919 looks, so I couldn't resist.

The F130 is currently on hold not due to this model but because I can't find out how to apply textures to the model with Blender, it's like rocket science -_- anyway, I decided to kill some time with this.

anyway I hope you enjoy the two pictures.

Awesome work! It is a nice looking machine. I worked on the hydraulic system design 7 yrs ago.

Nice to see this one coming :)

Even I was involved in the landing gear hydraulics during an internship

Hi, you wrote, you do not know how to texture the airplane? Here is a very good video about this:
Search youtube for
Blender Tutorial How to Make an Airplane Part 22

Be aware, he is doing this for only a picture. You must use a different image size. But it gives you an idea, how to unwrap the complex model.

It is also possible to use material and bake this into textures:

You can find some articles about formats of normals and textures for FSX on fsdeveloper resources.
Hope it helps.

Hello!

Blender Tutorial How to Make an Airplane Part 22
This video is looking great; however, a few things must be said about image sizes. For FSX (I don't know nothing about P3D) the pixel sizes must be a multiple of a 2 base.

For examples:
  1. Squared texture sizes: 64x64 px, 128x128 px, 256x256 px, 512x512px, 1024x1024 px, 2048x2048 px and the largest for aircrafts 4096x4096 px.
  2. Combinations to make them rectangular: 1024x512 px, 1024x2048 px, etc.
Also, some good advices given by many friends of mine and Mr. Erick Cantu. Read post #14 in this thread:
http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/looking-for-advice-about-textures.440854/

Keep up the good work and good luck with your texture mapping.
Sergio.

Nope it is not, but one must be willing and determined to climb the (UV-unwrapping and) texture learning curve first Osian ;-)

Here is a most basis UV-Unwrapping and Texturing tutorial on Youtube I could find for you, this one (4 part series) should get you started easily:
-

If you need anything else to learn how to master the rocketsience, just put your questions over here.
..

I know how to unwrap, I don't know how to apply ("bake") the textures I made to the model

Did you assign the right textures to the materials in the texture tab.? When you select material 1 go to the textire tab and assign texture 1 to it, go back to materials and do the same procedure for all the materials.

The thing is when I load the model in Model Converter X it just tells me that it tries to load the texture but It can't
You can learn how to do this by watching Krispy1001 excellent Blender2FSX videos on Youtube over here:

Start from video 12 (UV unwrap and textur modeling)

Video 18 (UV mapping, baking textures)

I'll take a look :)

TIP: If you put a printscreen of the MCX-error on the (ModelConvertX) forum, everyone else can help you to solve it?

MCX requires a working aircraft setup to display textures. At least an aircraft.cfg with a [fltsim.x] entry and a texture folder. In case of doubt, go for the whole setup, including any .air file, panel and sound.

Ok I am hijacking my own C919 thread but this is what I have, it is supposed to show the Fokker logo on the tail -_-

HOLD ON... HOLD ON, I see a texture in MDX now, a improvement :)

Applause Osian, welcome to your new texturing realm inside Blender (and the awesome MDX tool of course)
Keep those texturing screenshot coming!
