• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

compile error with gp 4932

I've been working on a project for a few weeks. All was well until I added a few more polys earlier today, and a line or two as well--I wish I could remember for sure which I last added.

When I go to compile I get the error message attached. I click OK, and get a message that ADX compiled ok. But as you can (I hope) see on the side by side screen shot of fsx/adx, none of the ground polys, new or old, show (seems that all of the adx created aprons are ok, just the ground polys.

I've (tried) to attach the error message, the screen shot and the ADEX file

Thanks for any thoughts. I can't tell which GP is the problem, and will likely start deleting one at at time

Gary

Gary, which version of ADE are you using and, when you edit a ground po0ly object, what is the version number of ADE_GP displayed in the title bar?

Don

That was quick

ADE 01.60.4932.24718 (v01.60.4932 BETA)

GP editor 0.0.96(j)

I've been re-reading the manual. I've been trying to compile using default option (single point, ARP elevation, full visibility) and I have not even done a full flatten/exclude autogen etc, it appears--so perhaps??

Thanks so much for the quick look

Gary

Those are the latest.

It's not a problem you can do anything about. The generated .asm file contains an error. I'll get back to you.

Don

I've tried adding the flatten, excluding autogen and as many permutations of the compile menu as I can try, and all generate the same error.

I'll try to back out the polys tomorrow if I have a chance... but my daughter's dishwasher died and she has a new one "for me to install". 45 minutes....or all day!!

Thanks again, Gary

Gary, I misread your (j) for an (l). 0.0.96(l) is the latest. - but it shouldn't make any difference. You can get it from one of the recent posts in the thread entitled ADE_GP 0.0.96.

I've just compiled your file with (l) and, while a couple of polys won't triangulate (I'm working on such an issue now), I don't get any compiler errors.

Are you using the BGLC_9 compiler shipped with ADE?

Don

I updated to (l) and the file now compiles--with the triangulation error that you describe. The poly's are back in FSX, as they were this morning.

I'm pretty sure I use the "stock" BGLC_9 compiler--a copy of the directory attached.

It certainly looks as if the change from j to l addressed something I did wrong.

Thanks so much....again.

With the error message re: triangulation I can identify and change/delete those polys

I suggest you don't change anything yet. I found a problem in (l) that causes the triangulation error message on very complex polys (e.g., large V-shapes that require partitioning). It may be what is causing your problem as well.

Also, during my own testing yesterday, I encountered a compiler error message similar to yours. I'm "chasing it" today.

Don

Gary, found it! It should fix both problems. And I also now know why the compile error didn't happen with(l).

I'll re-release ASAP.

Don

This version works perfectly on the project--no compile error, no triangulation message. Displays perfectly (alas, THAT is a bit of a problem with any of my work!!! )

As always, most appreciative and absolutely amazed at your talent and dedication!!

Thanks
Gary

Your welcome, Gary.

BTW, shortly after making that post, I realized how to avoid the triangulation error messages due to partitioning. So, if anyone still experiences those messages with 96(m), I should have a fix by tomorrow.
