• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Conditional display of objects

Hi there,

I am wondering whether it is possible to tweak objects as follows:

* the object shall show up only if the viewpoint (I mean the position of the aircraft) is higher than the reference point of the airport.
The reason for this question is that I am about to place a lot of objects in a city nearby the aerodrome. These objects are only relevant if you flying over the city (during the approach or the departure).

Is there any idea how to achieve this effect?

Arno's MDLTweaker II does have a condition for Aircraft altitude AMSL if that helps - but this appears only to work up to 500 metres.

Have not tried this

Hi Gianni,

Yes, you can add an altitude condition to the objects. I think that should work quite good for your case. There should not really be a limit on the altitude to use though.

Can you make a conditional for objects based on seasons (in FSX)?

ie, I have some grass covered bunkers, and as the seasons change, so should the grass texture covering them.

cheers

Bungo

Hi Bungo,

I am not sure whether this works for a genuine FSX-scenery. But as far as you are using objects made with the fs2004 gamepack (be aware to use non-transparent textures!) you may use the tweaks offered by MDL-Tweaker II (fo be found here in the tools-section). And I already have seen this kind of objects perfectly working in FSX.

Hi Bungo,

As Gianni says, you can do it when using the FS2004 gamepack. But when using the FSX SDK it is not possible due to changes made in the MDL format.
