• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

I may have been wrong about LvlD using FSUIPC, as I had it already installed. One of the addon modules did load FSUIPC however.

I suspect you are correct that (if only for reasons of standardisation) it is possibly best to use Simconnect.

In any event, with the lastest xml, it is now working - although I would have liked a continuous update of the plane position in FSX Planner - rather than "moving cursor to plane" to update it.
 
Hi,

Please confirm if you have FSUIPC4 loaded (seeing it in the menu bar in FSX) when SimConnect.xml is also loaded.

I can not have both at the same time.

Just to update my situation since I started this thread.Your prob is exactly my prob.Its the one or the other.The only thing I can think of causing this { in my case anyway} is the fact that I'm running VISTA 32.

My system is windows xp pro. So, we can deduct that the prob is not on the system.

I appreciated the help from Pete, FSUIPC's author, but could not get success.

Let's wait for Russell or anybody else solve that.

I have Windows Xp also and i have both simconnect.xml and fsuipc loaded. The only problem is that the aircraft position doesn't update unless i press "move cursor to fsx plane" as have been said here.

Sim Connect works.
Just the same here. The cursor in the Planner is not moving together with the aircraff in FSX just as it did in AFCAD; you have to press "move cursor to fsx plane":confused:

Correction
One has to tick "cursor auto follows FSX plane" below in the Plane Data window.

Ok, I downloaded jsimconnect but don't know what to do next. I move the simconnect.xml file to the FSX root folder, but FSX Planner would not connect. I then opened the file and added the address and port numbers from the simconnect.cfg file and still nothing. I added the following:

Address=10.1.0.6
Port=48447
MaxReceiveSize=4096
DisableNagle=0

[SimConnect.2]
Protocol=IPv4
Address=10.1.0.6
Port=48447

You shouldn't have to download anything else to get FSX Planner to connect to FSX. It comes with jsimconnect and all necessary files.

You need to put the simconnect.xml file into the C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX folder. Just make sure the IP address and port number you use in the xml file match those you use in FSX Planner.

Can anyone walk me through EXACTLY what I need to install and where to get FSX Planner working? I have a partitioned drive: C is where Windows XP is installed, and D is where I've installed FSX and my FSX SDK.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated!!!

The simconnect.xml file should be placed here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX


The address parameter (127.0.0.1) should be the same as what you use in FSX Planner. The port parameter (48447) should also be the same as what you use in FSX Planner.

I'm assuming that you are runnning FSX on the same machine as FSX Planner. FSX needs to be running to connect to it.

Another thing to check is a firewall. Are you using one? If so is it blocking the port you are using? Is it blocking FSX Planner from accessing the internet or anything else?

Ok I need some help. I finely got sim connect to connect to FSX. but now I cant get instant scenery to work . can some one help me and tell me what they did to get it to work with fsxplanner.

I haven't had time to work on this issue yet. All the development time is being spent on the one other big remaining peice of functionality, which we hope to have in the next release. After that I'l be able to look into this issue in more detail.

Marc,

It's not just you and Jose. I've the same problem. It's either FSX with FSXPlanner or FSX with FSUIPC (and additions connecting via FSUIPC).
I'm following this thread from the beginning but didn't mention that I have the same problem and I think there are a lot more FSX user who have this problem.

For what its worth, I do have FSUIPC and instant scenery installed - and they dropped off the raday the first time I tried to use Simconnect with FSXPlanner.

I decided to remove the xml file until things were fixed. With the second XML file, I tried again - and everything now works.

I have previously noted problems with the order that the dll.xml file loads addons in FSX, causing some entries to drop off the FSX menu bar.

I'm not sure what the solution is, but offer this information for what it is worth.

WinXP SP2 (updated), FSX SP1, SDK SP1a, LDLD 767-300ER, FSUIPC (I think 4.10 now), Instant Scenery
