• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

Creating liftable objects in FSX se

Hi all

I'm trying to breath some life into my fsx se and my helicopter cockpit by adding liftable objects. I have looked at the early Slingloads in the Sandbox
liftable missions which was done along time ago.

My cockpit is based on a MD500e. so I'd liked to use that to setup some very basic items to lift and move around.
In the sling loads missions there were about 30 liftable items and 2 helicopters the bell 206 and the EH-101. The bell could only pick up one item which was the stretcher

I would like just a few small generic items to move around. I have object placement tool installed so I am able to create my own scenery using the default scenery objects and I know that liftable objects need to be setup as missions

Is there any other downloadable objects that I could use to create missions for litable objects

1 - Since i'm a noob to "liftable things":
What makes any FSX_SE object lift_able? Is that a kind of property you can add to it (via an 3D modelling tool / export script / mission tag of some sort)?

2 - What kind of objects exactly are you looking for?

3 - Another option: Find a relevant freeware scenery which contains the liftable object(s) of your desire and extract it:
I'm no expert on scenery-object-extraction, but 'm sure somebody else here can help you with that challenge.

I played around with gmax in the past with FS 2004 but struggled getting my head around it , in fsx se there is the gmax folder

1 - Where can I learn more about "hook-a-bility" of scenery-objects? (I have the fs2004-fsx "SDK" to dive into and the rest of the Internet of course)

2 - Can this be done with any type of scenery object (like buildings? roads? atc-towers? trees? bridges?)
or are there some limits to the 3D volumetric shape (bounding box side) of the liftable object (for example << 1 meter) ?

3 - What "tool" do you use to make objects "liftable"?
- Commandline hacking of object-relevant XML files?
- Via the loadable FSX SDK "Object Placement tool", from inside the sim?

5 - What exactly are you struggling with? Since the more clear you describe your current challenge, the better others can assist you with it

Thanks heaps for the links. I have looked into things and there is another easy way by placing liftable items which are in the scenery library with the prefix "mis" in the location of choice using placement tool then saving it as a mission and saving the flight. Sounds too easy but I'll give it a try.

Why should something be "difficult" to begin with? Let me know, I'm curious if this "simple" approach works for you ok?

isn't much information to go on, even if I wanted to help you.

2 - Start to understand that most (if not all) other people on this forum are not (cap)able to do psychic remote-viewing and mindreading from a distance...
So start by communicating more crystal clearly what you have doing, the errors you got and where you got stuck and why.
Upload and post screenshots of the errors you are getting so others can get visually (and thus mentally) "on the same page as you are" right now
Why? This information can help others (including myself too) to understand your current challenge and assist you much better ways

My apologies here is the instructions from a post

There are four basic steps:

[1] Select an FSX 'liftable' object from the fsxp mission objects HERE. Typically these have a hook 'eye' for lifting such as the MIS_top_secret_crate.

[2] Place the object using Object Placement Tool' and save as a 'Mission'.

[3] Save your flight where you'd like to start from to pick up the load and

[4] Equip your Helo with a sling by editing the saved flight file.

Followed the instructions but can't seem to get it working
