• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Criteria-based award GUID

Brian, this may be a little late, but for the future (if you haven't already included or thinking of), how about the different Air Museums, say Wright Patterson, Hartford, Dulles, Boeing Field. The different Bone Yards in the desserts. ;)

For All;

PAUL IS THE MAN!!!!

Thanks Paul for all your help, sorting out my .xml problems and the file size problem. You've got my email, if you need help with other visit series projects, you can count on me.

Difar; Actually, most of those are already in this series! I'm finishing the testing on it, I'll get it out to the FS websites soon.

As for the project update, after Paul fixed the major problems with the xml file and reformatted the postcards from .bmp to .jpg, I put the file in my \rewards folder, and on first startup of FSX it scrubbed the logbook for identifiers that I've already been too and awarded the proper postcard for that location. I'll be spot checking more of those other areas, (checking all 256 before publishing it would be insane).

Thanks again Paul and Thorsten for your expertise in making this project reality!

I agree, don't mess with my medals or trophies! I would like to think that Microsoft made the postcard catagory for imaginative folks like Paul and I; assuming that someone like us would develop some awards based on travel. Thats probably why for the missions, they only have 9 postcards out (and some of them are questionable as to why they're postcards and not something else like a special item) and NONE for FSX-A. I think Microsoft realized that postcards should be issued for traveling, not so much for missions. For that matter, the badges awarded for certain world-wide airposts should have been postcards, not badges IMHO! But that's ok. Guys like Paul and I will press forward and give the traveling flight simmer something to be proud of!

The special items and postcards were both a bit of a catch-all for rewards that didn't fit well into other categories.

Good idea to be able to create new categories like we did for other stuff.

UPDATE

I've found 3 problems so far, all three are from incorrect identifiers that I'll need to correct and recompile the award file. All three are my errors...and yes, I'm actually landing (or doing touch and gos) to each and every airfield in the file (all 256) to verify the data. At first I was just going to do a sampling, but after finding the errors I definately felt the need to check all of them before putting out the file. I'm about half way through my list, so hopefully I'll be done soon, recompile the file and then upload it to several sim sites.

FINAL UPDATE!

With Paul's help I've finally got this finished. Should be showing up on Flight Sim websites for download. Thanks to everyone who helped, especially Paul!

Paul, are we still in this? I'm half way through, but stopped due to very heavy workload on my desk. But I could finish the job soon if you give me a wink. ;)

Hi Folks

Thorsten -
Yes still proceeding,
albeit slowly due to other priorities.

No worries,
just whenever you can spare the time.
Life & putting food in one's mouth comes first. :)

Many thanks
