• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v3 Custom taxi centerlines

Dear all,

I've been trying to find a way to have custom-made green center lines at my airport and thought of using the .fx files by placing these effects at a given distance to each other along the centerlines. All goes well except that, after having place a substantial number, this is at a massive cost in fps.

While I think the .fx placement is probably my solution, would it be coming from the fact that I use the default fx_navgre.fx files?

Any idea and possible solution is welcome. Thanks,

Fred

Have you looked at using the Custom GP function in ADE? This would allow you to create your own lines of whatever color you wish and would not hit framerates

Placing a lot of effects will often hit the frame rate pretty hard. Have you thought about using more ADE Paths (which are invisible during the day unless you want them to display lines as well) overlaid on top of the regular taxiways? Set them to display only Center Lights. Then you can adjust them to your liking and add as many as you like. The only thing you can't adjust is the light spacing. If you do not connect them to the main taxiway system they will never be used. ADE will throw up a potential error in the Fault Finder (disconnected taxiway) but you can ignore that.

Hope this helps,

Jon - I have the lines but was referring to the centerline lights
Tom - Will give it a try and let you all know.

Thanks

Fred

Edit: The issue is mainly in the curves so will use the default path lights for the straight lines and effects for the curves.
Any idea what effect I can use so that the lights are the same as for the default lintes? Thanks,
