• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Anyone know what the record is for Booleans on a single part? I have 17 on the front end... :D

The funny part is when I first started, I chose the Mystery Ship because I wanted a nice simple design to make it easier to do... :)

WOW! That plane is amazing! I have tried modeling planes and I just don't have the "touch." Back to scenery for me...

Did I forget to mention, this is a specially optimized version designed to run on FS98! Guaranteed 50 fps on a PIII, 350 mhz...

Very smooth - looks like something from my favourite era.

Strictly speaking, triangles would be a better indicator, as that is what FS and all 3D apps actually work with.

The highest I've seen so far is 199,000 for the FSX F14 VC model

For efficiency, polys (triangle) counts do matter, as does texture application and materials, minimal draw calls are not the magic bullet to make up for too many polys that the eye will never notice.

I'm glad to hear you say that. I was starting to get worried... ;)

Map your textures wisely and you can have all the polycount you want. :D

FS98 with 50 FPS on a P3? No way, José!

If I remember correctly, I use to get about 30-40 on mine with 128mb Ram and no video card...

very very nice... thats gunna be nice... im with mdm, ive tried making a/c but think i should stick to scenery....

that looks great!!!!! what does 75k in polygons equate to in *.mdl filesize? the dreamfleet barron 58 is a nice plane, but it comes out to over 6megs for an a/c model filesize and even though it got alot of nice textures, it can be a framerate hog comparatively...

nice job... that looks dandy :)
