• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2002 Decompile 2002 BGL

Hi folks,

Wow, long time no speak. I've been out of the development industry here for an extremely long time but after discovering a project that I had started last year and the decent standard I'd started, it seemed only fair to continue with it.

However, I no longer have the placement co-ordinates which where used when exporting from the 2002 Gamepack.

I remember once I was able to decompile one of the BGL's to gain access to them and also the heading but can't remember which program it was.

Have tried BGL Analyzer and BGL Comp but doesn't seem to be either. Is it possible?

Cheers :)

Try using one of Jons tools. Scenery something is the name. I cant recall it at this moment, at work and dont have access to the files at the moment.
It will list the point and heading and altitude in the settings. Scenery Design Editor maybe?

Hi,

The old bglanalyze should work fine (not the modern bglanalyzex). Or you can load the bgl in modelconverterx it will show you the coordinates in the placement editor.

I knew there had to be a way to use MCX for this, I just couldn't recall how to do it. Thanks, this is good to know.

Thanks for the responses chaps.

I've just found the original BGL Analyze, but that only provides me with a rough guide as to what lat and long the object falls in and MCX has the default placement as 5 and 52 with no heading for either.

I remember doing this a few years ago I'm sure. Stuck without it.

I do not have any tools that decompile files before FS2004

Cant SDE read the info in the bgl from 2002?

You would think they would have a similar setup. Other than language used to generate the bgl, they should be relatively close, or one would think. But hey, it was microsoft afterall.

No - it is for FS9/FSX only
