• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Default Airport still showing under exclude and with airport deleted (Double Default Airports)

So this is a unique case I suppose....

I am working on KPSO (Pagosa Springs, CO) as my first airport for FS2020 as it's small enough for me to start figuring out the new sim. Anyway the default airport when you spawn in at KPSO has 2 windsocks next to Runway 19 next to each other and the runway I believe is doubled up also. This is because the airport ICAO changed over the years from 2V1 to KPSO. In the simulator database both ICAO codes exist. So there are 2 airports here at the same location. I attempted during the Alpha/Beta to get Asobo to fix this with the double windsocks and also some flattening issues but it didn't happen.

I have gone in and added a Runway, Blastpads, Airport, and Exclude Polygons to the airport KPSO. I have all of the checkboxes to delete the default airport checked. I also did some terraforming on the runway to correct the elevation as the airport was about 250 feet to high. When I build the package and move it to the community folder and load the sim at the airport I see double windsocks still as well as a runway underneath the runway that I put down (it's wider and a different color so it's visible). I am assuming that the airport 2V1 is causing the double windsock issues. So, I created a separate package for 2V1 that just has an airport placed with all the checkboxes deleted. I have tried to build that package but it won't build for some reason and it's saying access denied for the folder I'm trying to build in.

Do you think I am correct in that I need to override the 2V1 airport and delete ALL and maybe that will get the double windsocks and runway to go away? Do I need to do that as a separate package? I also tried earlier adding a second airport to my main project to delete 2V1 and it let me add it however when I continued to try and add taxiways and other airport features it would add them to the 2V1 ICAO Airport instead of the KPSO. So I think it probably does need to be a separate package? Hopefully this makes sense. Do I need a second exclude polygon? I don't think I do because the first one is excluding the default buildings as it's supposed to. I just have the double windsocks and runway...

Yes, you'll need to make 2 new airports. One will simply include the 2V1 ICAO with all the delete options selected. The other will be your new KPSO, again with all the delete options selected, but this is the one that you will use as the basis of your new airfield.

Ok and it will need to be separate projects/packages correct? And I should not need an exclude polygon in the 2V1 project? Only the airport with all the delete options checked? Just making sure I have this right in my head

I don’t think it needs to be two separate packages, I think you can have two airport polys in the same package, but I haven’t tried tbh.

There is something in the SDK documentation about the effect of having more than one package in a project. Seems to have a priority effect. I didn't quite understand it at the time though :(

Worked! I added a second airport to the same project to exclude the old ICAO and the underlying runway went away! I had to add a separate exclusion rectangle to get rid of the double windsocks and the misplaced airport beacon. So it does work with both airports in the same package. I only needed the one exclusion polygon to get rid of the default airport buildings. Progress!

Hi,

I have the exact same problem but I can't get rid of the windsock. All buildings and runway(s) of the second airport are gone but the windsock stays. How do you set up the exclude? It doesn't have that many options.. but "Exclude All" doesn't do the trick for me...

Yes check out that video. The windsock takes a separate exclude to get rid of it.
