• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Default ground clears out my photomesh?

Been having fun testing with SBuilderX photo terrain making process. Really no issues but a few questions.

1) - When I compile a large area at zoom level=14 as I flew over it the photo tiles would disappear directly under the aircraft revealing the FSX default terrain textures? You know, the small radius directly under the aircraft. Doesn't my scenery have priority over the default? Is the default a higher resolution than my zoom=14?

FYI - Just captured/processed an area at zoom=15 and I did not see this issue.

2) - Something I haven't really investigated or tried yet: Can you capture just the tiles you want just by creating a boarder around an area, or maybe or using a poly shape? Or would you capture the typical rectangle area and the "carve it up" using a poly or line tool? Can you even do this?

Thx,

Clutch

Default will display if the photo is not high enough in resolution to take priority. That's why I almost always say "in most cases" when mentioning photo scenery overrides default textures.. You're seeing that when you bump things up to level 15 in SBX, instead of level 14.

The Resample tool processes rectangular or square shapes. To control what is seen in FSX you create a blendmask and use that when compiling. If, when using SBuilderX, a properly made AND named blendmask is in the same folder as the source material, then SBX will include it in the compiling process. Same applies for watermask files.
