• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Default water still showing!

I am redesigning a coastal area in a neglected area of the FS world, and my add-on scenery has a higher priority, currently at #2 which overrides everything else with #1 being World Time Zones (which can go down as it is not scenery).

I have covered the area with an Exclude Shorelines polygon but when I deploy and refresh the scenery cache, I see parts showing with water (where I had land) and that the coarse default shoreline is showing which is where the land ends in the stock scenery. If it is almost as if it is not completely overriding the stock scenery.

Correcting a little bit from the OP... The original shorelines are totally eliminated with the Exclude Shorelines but there are geometrical spaces filled with water showing between (original) land and my corrected shorelines (corrected to real life rather than the FS zig zag).

Even if I try to cover those with a polygon tagged with a landclass (such as Tropical Rainforest) it would STILL show water!

Please help!

If I am not mistaken, I believe the shoreline is only a textured line; it does not actually affect where water ends and land starts.

Have you tried creating a hydro poly which covers the required QMID grid and then created a hole within it which represents your new shoreline?

Creating a hole within a hydro poly tells FS where the water should end and the land should start.

Yes, I have an exclude all water polygons in that QMID. I also created the poly that is tagged as Hydro Ocean Perennial on the top part of the QMID with the shorelines and that polygon has been extended (and cropped) to match the QMID 11.
