• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Deleting sim windsock

I'm sure this has been dealt with in 2020, however, I have tried all the advice given I can find. In my 2024 Airfield there is an existing windsock that is in the wrong place. I want to replace it with one in the correct place. I just can't seem to remove it. I have tried polyline and rectangle exclude, but it is still there. Can someone help.

I just delete mine in ADE with no problem. Another possibility (I have not tried this but I use this to place jetways at various airports with success)
1. Open the XML file that ADE creates (use Notepad) , then look for something that says "Windsock" and delete that code
2. Next save the file and close ADE.
3. Next open the airport XML file in ADE and the Windsock should be gone. Save the new airport and everything should be good to go.
Like I said I use this method to place jetways with success,
Good luck, DKT

You can also import the ADE XML code directly in the XML of the airport in your data folder and edit the airport with the sim's editor.

Thank you for your reply, I did not know this. You talk about "the sim's editor", would you please expand on that. I know that ADE gives an XML file which I can edit with Notepad (free XML editors apparently have disappeared), then put the file back and ADE recompiles the whole airport. I have done this with jetways only since I don't like the one that comes with ADE. The default CYOW looked pretty bare, now I have more jetways and eye-candy at CYOW. Also I am very careful about add-on scenery downloads, haven't people heard of Fault Finder available with ADE?

Notepad++ is still around and it color codes XML by syntax:
