• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Disappearing gPolys (FSX)

Hi all,

I know there are a couple of threads regarding disappearing polys but I do think this is quite peculiar.

Essentially all my ground polys are made with FS2002SDK and are called from a single .bgl with multiple layers.

There is a very specific point and a specific point of view at which polys disappear altogether. When the user turns the point of view, only by a couple of degrees or so, then they do appear again.

To test a bit more, I put a a few polys on another .bgl so now gPolys were called from 2 separate .bgl files. But all gPolys dissapear simultnaeously at the same exact point.

The polys are segmented, and a flatten covers the whole area...any ideas welcome...

Maybe this will help clarify what's wrong??

an additional hint in the hope that someone may have thought of something...

this effect is not anymore observed in FSX SP1 version

Hi,

How far are you from the reference point when this happens? There is a maximum distance. Else you need to use two reference points.

It is indeed at the very end of the ground poly model, furthest from the ref.point. However, I do not see the same on the other end..

all gpolys are called from a single multi-layered .bgl so one ref. point. To add a 2nd, do you just mean to have another gpoly .bgl file with a separate ref.point?

Hi,

How big is your airport? I have seen such issues at a big airport where I was more than 5 kilometres from the reference point. So only big airports should suffer from that.

Another thing to check might be your v2 value, if that is wrong you could also get disappearing polygons.
