• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX dissapearing AI traffic DAY

A fellow user noted that using Ultimate Traffic 2, the AI traffic dissapears only in DAY time and he hinted on this that he saw on another forum (sorry don't know which one)

["It has to do with the use of scasm for the textured surface of pavement, FSX SP2 and non-FSX SDK compiled aircraft models.
Everything was fine during FSX SP1, but FSX SP2 broke the backward compatibility for using scasm and non-FSX SDK compiled models.
Your choice is to use another scenery, only use FSX SDK compiled aircraft or downgrade to FSX SP1.
I have not heard of another fix/work-around although I haven't been following this issue for some time either."]

would this be possible?

Yep. Avoid using SCASM code. I know we love easy scasm code for runway lights, papis and stuff, but FSX post-SP2 doesn't which is a shame.

There are 2 solutions that I know of: Model your runway and it's lights in gmax with BGLLIGHT, or cut a whole in your ground poly to show the AFCAD runway bellow.

I am using the old FS2002 game pack for ground polygons, is that also an issue? I am using an invisible runway with SCASM which is something you mentioned but the ground polygons are also SCASM. Would I need to remove those too?

The fs2002 gamepack poly is still good, as it's code compiled by bglcomp.exe, not by scasm.exe.

The invisible runway is the one that causes it. If you remove that bgl from the scenery folder, you'll see the aircraft in the day with shadows on.

I think it refers only to the old style runways. Saying any SCASM code is wrong is a false statement, since you can not even differentiate between FS2002 GMax and SCASM code.

I jump in here. I have the same problem: invisible AI traffic due to the use of FS9 AI traffic models on a scenery with whatever reason to let the ai traffic disappear. In my case, it is (amongst others) the FSDT scenery of Zurich (LSZH). I already started converting my FS9 AI models into FSX native models using MCX, but I am not happy with the prop animation there. Is there any easy way to resolve the problem from the scenery side? Can I find out, which part of the scenery is the reason for this issue? Could I easily modify that? Thanks for any hint...

regards
Chris
