• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Edge Grass transparency Issue

Hello guys once again.

I'm facing this issue now that lies on the edge grass texture I'm using.
The transparency I've used is "visible" on top of the groundPoly and it seems like it is excluding it.

I have used a vertically lofted line in order to create the grass.

The parameters are:

Set default transparent

Z-Test Alpha:
checked

Alpha test level: 128

Alpha test mode: GreaterEqual

Z-write Alpha: checked

Double sided: checked

Can I do something for this?

Thanks a lot!

Peter

Looks to me that the ground poly is at a higher elevation than the grass (look at the right edge of the ground poly).

What does it look like from an overhead view?

Thank you guys.

I wanted to place the ground polygon as a layer on top of all other layer, using the ground polygon wizard.
That's what I usually do, but this time the ground poly appeared cracked and broken, so I slightly elevated it and placed it as an MDL object on top of all layers.

My ground poly is a 4096x4096 Plane object with Alpha.

By the way, what's the correct way to place a ground polygon ?

If it appears broken, it is most likely a flatten issue. Try adding another flatten polygon covering this area and some extra area around it. Then layer the ground polygons as usual.

The correct way to place a ground polygon is whatever works... :)

That's exactly what I think too.

In another airport of mine, this method worked perfectly.
However, this time the airport is on a hill and its a bit more complex flattening the area.

Ground poly has less priority to be seen less than any FSX MDL.
What I do is export those grass as another layer of ground poly. No mater it is vertical shape no flat like ground.

You can use MCX just to follow this thread. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/filter-out-non-ground-polygon.425396/page-2

To summarize this thread when you use MCX to make ground poly, un-check all the boxes out.

Thank you so much, jtanabodee!!

I tried your trick in MCX and it worked fine for me but....the grass is only visible from the left side. When I look at it from its right side its invisible.
Do you know why this happened? I have checked the double-sided box in the material menu.

Thanks again,

Petros

I don't know what cause that. If you have problem you can clone the polygon and use the function flip then you will have double side polygons.
