• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Edwards AFB in FSX Acceleration: Extra library objects?

Yessir just like that! Thanks How hard would it be to get a Edwards Object Library with everything by itself?

You could dig into the FSX-Acceleration-Scenery-Folder and try to recompile the respective .bgl's.
If anyone knows the procedure and probably provides the tools, I bet it is Arno Gerretsen, CEO of this website.
Regarding the legality of this procedure, please contact your lawyer ...
I, back in 2007, had designed and exported the whole scenery into grouped .mdl's as this was my contracted job then.
This was done with 3dsMax in tight connection with the FSX-SDK. So I'm familiar with the way to put things in,
yet a layman in terms of getting stuff out.

I did just that in the past 2 days, with converter X, export the hangar to a folder and change GUI, then with library xms create the library, then activate folder, then use ADE to put in your scenery, then enjoy!

This is probably a longshot given how old this thread is, but I am just now getting into building airports, etc. in FSX using ADE 1.78. These objects show up in the available libraries, but there are no thumbnails. I downloaded the .mdl that Frank extracted, but there are no texture files. Are all of the textures for the Edwards_AFB objects embedded somewhere?

The texture files for the objects themselves are completely different from a Thumbnail, which is an image of the completed object. How to create thumbnail images is detailed in the ADE manual (14.17 page 292). Note that you need to place the object into FS first using ADE (temporarily, at least) before performing this procedure. I often place all objects in a library BGL file using ADE scattered around an airport, then take thumbnails of all of them at one time.

Yeah, I understand that. In re-reading my post, it isn't very clear what I'm asking, so sorry about that. There's no thumbnail, so I have no idea how the objects are supposed to look. When I open the .bgl that Frank posted with MCX, there are no textures on any of the objects...they just show up as black and white checker.

Add on textures are placed into the texture folder alongside the scenery folder where the BGL file resides. If MCX cannot find them there, it gives you a checkerboard. But since you are talking about default textures they may instead be found in the main Texture folder. You can check what textures the object is looking for by clicking the Material Editor button. If they are present in the main Texture folder and you are getting a checkerboard it may mean that MCX is not set up to search in the main Texture folder in MCX Options (TexturePath). However, this sometimes doesn't work anyway (don't know why) and then I don't worry about it if they are appearing in FS OK.
