• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Effects File Behaving Badly

Im having problems with an effects file. The effect is showing in the sim but is not using the params correctly. (FS2004)The effect is a glideslope I created for runways I want it to only show in the VC/cockpit instead it shows in all views. Ive followed the SDKs as far as Im able and need to know if this is common or if there is a fix or solution. Ive placed the effects by XML creation and drag and drop on BGLcomp. Here is the text of the file.
EDIT-
Been a while since I stopped in here so I posted some other shots of what Ive been up to lately. Here are a couple links 1 the Dash 8 100s that I recently uploaded to SimV and a link to Utube with some FS Music Videos showing some of my models. Thanks Greg

Moved the effects subforum.

Can you describe the problem in a little more detail. "Not using the parameters correctly" does not really explain the problem to me.

Hi there,

according to the FSX SDK, "Changing [the Properties parameters] to zero will have no effect, as these settings are unimplemented." I've heard that the same is true for FS9. Sorry.

Cheers, Holger

Thanks

Hey Arno and Holger. I want the effect to only show from the VC/cockpit not in the other views. Ive zeroed out or turned off the views as in the text above but as Holger has stated sounds like there is no real way to do this. SUCK!
The FS9 effects SDK states that to stop the effect from being shown in any one view you need only turn off the coressponding field (1 or 0) or ommit the views section all together for it to show in all views. I had hoped not to have to see the glideslope at all times at the airport Im building but may since the glideslope is invaluable during weather conditions of 3/4 of a mile and above to guide to the runway it realy works well. In fact its nice to have for all weather conditions and times of day.
If anyone has a way of stopping the effect from showing in the Spot Tower and Map views while still allowing it to be seen from the VC/cockpit view the info would be great. Otherwise ill just edit the effect to be easier on the eye. Thanks Greg.
