• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Emission texture not emitting light?

Actually there is nothing to share: default cube, uv unwrap, default albedo texture "uv grid", same as emissive (i try different brightness from grays to pure white). And experiments with this tint option too, from black to white. Only in white i have ugly bright emission, all others dont work.

Link to cube with textures.

So, i install blender on another computer and make another 10+ experiments. All option and texture combinations gave me this: this section (on screenshot) not working. Im going crazy.
What i'm asking is just working blender cube with night lightning.

ok,

i asked you the sources, and I was right to ask them

Problems:
- opening your blend file gives me a textured cube, fine, in the material editor I can find albedo and emissive in the right places, fine,
but
the emissive color multipliers is set to 0
and the night/day switch is set to false
ok...could be a mismatch beween blender versions or importer/exporter version? Maybe
but
- opening your gltf file I find a bunch of xplane related things (and i can live with that but there is no reason for them to be there)
- your emissive factor is set to 0,0,0
"materials" : [
{
"emissiveFactor" : [
0,
0,
0
],
you will never see your emissive texture with a setting like that (this value comes straight off the emissive color multiplier)

also,

in your gltf code i can't find any reference to the ASOBO_material_day_night_switch

"extensions" : {
"ASOBO_material_day_night_switch" : {
"enabled" : true
}
}

i would suggest using the exporter:

providing new source files, but i think you get where your error was, see working example in the screenshot
