• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Enhance Textures for better looks?

Hello Everyone! I've been working hard on texturing my airport, and I've just exported my main terminal into the simulator, and the textures kinda look plain and bland. Even though in the renders they look great.

Any tips sort to say to improve the texturing look in the sim? Take a look at the screenshots to see the render vs the simulator. I know render will always be better, but I expected it too look a little better in sim.

Cheers, Appreciate all the help.

MCX should have a option for a bump channel, good luck.

An excellent tutorial on Scenery Texturing for Realism by Bill Womack (aka "spotlope") is here:

FSDevConf - Scenery Texturing for Realism

UPDATE:

Download and install 7-ZIP archive utility:

https://www.7-zip.org/

Then download my 2-part 7-ZIP archive of Bill Womack's original FSDEVCONF video here:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/mlbn...exturing+for+Realism_HD_720p_MP4.zip.001/file

https://www.mediafire.com/file/d57o...exturing+for+Realism_HD_720p_MP4.zip.002/file

In 7-ZIP File Manager GUI, browse to the folder containing both:

FSDevConf - Bill Womack - Scenery Texturing for Realism_HD_720p_MP4.zip.001

...and:

FSDevConf - Bill Womack - Scenery Texturing for Realism_HD_720p_MP4.zip.002

In 7-ZIP File Manager GUI, browse and select this file:

FSDevConf - Bill Womack - Scenery Texturing for Realism_HD_720p_MP4.zip.001

Next, in 7-ZIP File Manager GUI Menu > File > 7-ZIP > Extract Files ...

7-ZIP will automatically extract both archives above, to make a 1-piece ZIP that can be extracted to the original *.MP4 video file.

Hope this helps ! :)
