• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ERROR: found scale animation (Sphere01)

I apologize for the double post; this isn't getting much attention on the scenery thread where I found the original, and my question is pertinent to aircraft modeling in any case. On that note, the original topic is over two years old.

How fortuitous that I would search this topic out, as I'm having the exact same problem, with an added twist.

Exporting from 3dsMax 9 w/Pandasoft DX 9.0 plugin, compiling through makemdl to release to FS2004.

I too am receiving the "ERROR: found scale animation (FUSELAGE.)"

However, when I enter the hierchy, slap reset a few times, this error persists even after no further changes to the model. If I remove the fuselage, the error continues with the next sequential part in the model. It will continue this for every object. (Restating: Regardless how many times I slap the "reset" button.)

At the end of my rope with the modeling scene.

I ran an experiment earlier for giggles and knowledge sake. All I did was create a primitive sphere, and export. The error manifested itself as stated in the title. I applied no transforms or animations to the bugger.

My apologies for the inconvenience; thank you for your time.

No ideas, anyone? I really can't get around this without disabling animation on the Panda plugin... Panda's exporting scale animations that don't exist, and it's tripping makemdl up.

What does the sphere show in the Scene Graph?

The scale should be x:100 y:100 z:100

Have you tried adding a Reset X-Form modifier to the stack, then hitting the Reset Transform and Reset Scale buttons?

Scene Graph... I'm not familiar with that, so I ran a user reference search on it and came up with cross-reference scene and objects. I found no helpful information in any of the resulting dialogs with max.

Yes, the scale on all objects is 100% (I didn't save the sphere file.)

Yes, I have reset transform and scale on all objects, but I don't actually have a "Reset X-Form" modifier available in my stack. O_o

On another note, congratulations on the Citation's NavService Update.

In Max, Graph Editors/Track View - Dope Sheet...

X-Form modifier is available from the Modifier List rollout. It is the very last entry.

Thanks!

Bill, the dope sheet says there's no scale animations; all keys are position and rotation. As for the transform reset, that doesn't resolve the issue. The fuselage exported alone still invokes "found scale animation."

I think Panda's arbitrarily creating scale keys for everything on export, but I don't understand why.

As I've no real experience with Panda (aside from some mostly failed trials a few years ago), I'm not going to be of much help...

The net result of that miserable experience shifted me from beating my head against the wall to using GMax instead... :D

Do you still have Middleman and Modlecommander, then? I'm in the process of moving the Archangel back to Gmax, but I need to tell makemdl to shut up and colour. There are vertices I don't feel like welding for the sake of texture smoothing.

Even though you already have it, I thought I'd add this reply to the question in case someone else is searching for Model Commander and MiddleMan:

http://n4gix.home.comcast.net/~n4gix/MM_MkMDL.plugnplay.zip

The above link is to a zip file containing my "MiddleMan + ModelCommander
Plug-n-Play" package. I've not included the original source documents of
either MM or MC because that would defeat intentional "simplicity" of
this package.

Simply unzip the contents to your C:\gmax\gamepacks\fs2004\plugins
folder and it will work seamlessly for exporting, automatically pausing
and allowing one to change export options on the fly.
