• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Error re: file locations

I am using v01.78.7298 under W7, for FS9.
ADE has been on my drive J: for quite a while but was on C: earlier.
When I load a particular a/p file, ADE finds that a/p OK in J: but looks for a background image in C:/... That image has always been in J:/.../F9/projects. EDIT: or has it??
I "ignore" and continue.
When compiling (with option "do not save xml") , I get error msg "could not find part of path C:/MSFS/... /...xml"
I have edited and triple-checked settings.ini to ensure all paths point to J:

EDIT: Now that I think a little harder: is it possible that I last worked on that a/p while ADE was on C: and that the path to the image is stored in the a/p file itself? That wd explain the error at load time but how about that at compile time?

Thanks for your help.

This may be coming from the airport settings file which is project specific and may contain old paths. In the FS9 sub folder in the ADE main folder find the folder apsf and open it. You may see a bunch of files

These contain path information:

Move all the files out and restart ADE and load your airport project. If ADE can't find a relevant apsf file for a project it will create a new one based on your current settings.

Hi Jon,
Thanks again for your quick response. I wish my bank and utility providers borrowed a page from your book!
Problem solved!
Cheers,
Philippe
