• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Everything duplicated and roads not showing up in sim

OK, I have a wierd problem, I don't know if anyone else has ever had this happen or not, but somehow it appears that my airport (homemade) has gotten duplicated and actually laid on top of the original airport. I'm finding duplicated roads on top of the original roads, I'm noticing a lot of roads are not showing up in the sim like they used to. I go to delete the problem road and find another one under that one and have to delete both then redraw the road again. This has become very tiresome as i have a lot of roads to do. Most of them are working ok, but mostly it's the ones that have been linked to a parking or ramp that don't show up. Has anyone had this problem and is there a quick and easy way to fix it? It seems to be a ADE problem and not a Sim problem. I've never seen this happen before and it kinda bugs me that it is happening. Should I delete all of my airport files and just recreate (save,compil,etc..) them? Any ideas why this happened?

Which version of Flight Simulator?
Sounds like you've got two copies of your scenery in two different locations, both of which exist and are activated in your Scenery Library.
Maybe a file search using File Explorer, for an appropriate filename, might show up the culprit?

I'm using FSX ,I did check all the directories for duplicate files in all scenery folders and deleted all of the duplicate files. I then re-saved and re-compiled the airport, loaded the airport in ADE (not the sim) , looked at my list of scenery objects, and still found duplicate roads, taxis, and runways. I decided to just go through and delete all of the duplicates and re-save,re-compile the airport. I have not tested it yet. If the problem is solved, and I really hope so, how can I prevent this from happening again in the future?

Sorry ... I don't use FSX (much) nor am I familiar with ADE.
Hopefully someone else will have some ideas.
The fact that you had duplicate files suggests you're making some mistakes somewhere, but without a lot more detail (most of which will have gone now you've deleted the files) it'll all be very generic guesswork.
Maybe, if you zipped up and attached your source code, someone familiar with ADE could look into it for you.
Good luck.

I found the problem, there were still a couple of "old" duplicate scenery "CVX" (or something like that) still in one of my scenery folders that ADE was reading along with my updated files causing everything to get duplicated (I found it wasn't just the roads but pretty much the entire airport) bassically loading an old airport right on top of the new one. Once I deleted the old files making sure (using the file creation dates) that there were no more old files, I just saved the corrected airport and recompiled it, and everything was back to normal. Not sure if this was caused by
ADE or if it had something to do with Windows 11 after microsoft updated the file explorer which was having some file duplication issues. Hopefully the latest update has fixed it. So far, so good though.

Oh, and Just FYI, most of my major problems began showing up after upgrading to Windows 11, so for anyone upgrading, just be aware that it could start having adverse affects on both FSX and ADE. Not sure about any other sims though. FSX was originally designed for Windows 7 you know. I never did get the thing to work on Windows 10.

I did try W11 briefly, but didn't get on with the user interface, so I've reverted to W10 ... the shiny new W11 HP Workstation is sitting under my desk gathering dust!
