• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Excess Walls

Can someone help me with this?
When trying to complete a ruined Castle I find when doing "odd" shaped walls that are not exactly square I get a kind of "Flashing" similar to that on badly produced plastic kits (see attachment-if it works).
I've tried creating from extruded template and using multisided cylinders then moving the points and am slowly losing marbles.
Can someone tell me if it's possible wtih FSDS3.5 or do I have to move to GMax or 3DSMax?

Cheers

The problem arises when using odd-shaped polygons. When that happens, I delete the offending polygons and re-make the polygons.

I would retriangulate, taking care to create just 3-sided polygons (okay, tri-angles).

(I'm not at my <ahem> "development" computer, so I can't pop up a quick example of what I mean.)

Felix,

Hmmm you may have released a monster here!!!

i rebuilt the polygons using the maximum number of sides to containth boundary and it worked rebuilt and loded into FS fine, this may lead to an abuse of polygons!!!

Hello

I reported extrusion problems mainly with not convex templates.
eg: to create a rail beam from a "I" shaped template.
Look for concerned posts.

Can anybody confirm FSDS problems due to not convex shapes?

Yes, I have not been able to extrude a part unless the template is convex. For something like an I-beam I would make three separate 4-sided tubes, with an appropriate amount of sections, join them into one part then delete any hidden surfaces. The final assembly could then be scaled appropriately for any I-shaped structure.

Ok!

I encounterd too adimension problem with "Sweep" mode; it seems that it doesn't work correctly if template dimension is too small vs radius of sweep.
I tried to create a 10 m radius curb, with a 15 cm x 15 cm square template; result is 10 cm or 20 cm!
