• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA exclude library objects in complex polygons

I think I got a problem here. I need to exclude library objects, default bridges, taxiway signs and other stuff for a whole country.
Problem is that those things can only be excluded with exclusion rectangles (correct?), but the borders are naturally not rectangles at all. I would either have to exclude much more than I want to (giving trouble with addons on the other side of the border that's still within the exclusion rectangle), or I would have to create hundreds of small exclusion rectangles.
Has anybody done that before?

For our dutch scenery we did the last, near the border we have many rectangles.

This is only for xml excludes of course, terrain excludes are not rectangular.

I was afraid that was the case. Any ideas on how to use a tool to automatically convert a poly into several rectangles?
 
Scenproc can do it. I added that for the fs2004 vegetation rectangles. But it can't write xml excludes now, maybe I need to add that.

It would be enough if I got some text file containing coordinates for the rectangles. I could edit them to create XML exclude files. But I guess it would make sense to define some size for the rectangles. It would probably not be good for performance if you place thousands of exclusion rectangles.
 
If you are or know of a good programmer, you could take a listing from decompiled BGL files and a shapefile for each state of Germany (? ;)) and then test if the object is within the boundary. If it is, simple code can adjust the Lat/Lon parameters to cover the reference point and generate the necessary XML code for the appropriate exclusion effect.

There are many links through Google that address "points in polygon" and determining if it's True or False.

With scenproc you can specify the size of the rectangles. Do you have a shapefiles with polygons of Germany? Then I can show you how you could do it.
