• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSXA Exit Animation Problems

This is just wierd.

I am animating my exits. The first one (the main exit) animates just fine. It is a 2 stage animation. First the trap door opens and lowers. Second, a ladder rotates off the door to extend the stairs.

Here's the code:

Code:
  <PartInfo>
    <Name>cabxit_macon</Name>
    <AnimLength>100</AnimLength>
    <Animation>
      <Parameter>
        <Sim>
          <Variable>EXIT OPEN:0</Variable>
          <Units>percent</Units>
        </Sim>
      </Parameter>
    </Animation>
  </PartInfo>

This is shown in the first picture.

The next exit is the gangway. I animated both the gangway and the gangway switch rotation with the first (EXIT OPEN:2) code.

The mouse rectangle is attached to a switchplate behind the physical switch, but large enough to be "Seen".

Here's where it gets wierd. I animated exit two and can't get anything to move unless I toggle exit 3 in the callback.

Code:
  <PartInfo>
    <Name>gangway_macon</Name>
    <AnimLength>100</AnimLength>
    <Animation>
      <Parameter>
        <Sim>
          <Variable>EXIT OPEN:2</Variable>
          <Units>percent</Units>
        </Sim>
      </Parameter>
    </Animation>
  </PartInfo>

  <PartInfo>
    <Name>switch_gangway</Name>
    <MouseRect>
      <Cursor>Hand</Cursor>
      <CallbackCode>3 (&gt;K:TOGGLE_AIRCRAFT_EXIT)</CallbackCode>
    </MouseRect>
  </PartInfo>

This action is shown in picture 2 below.

I've been unable to animate any other exits with any code or call.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jim

The reason for the "weirdness" is that the EXITS use two different numbering systems for the A:vars and the K:events!

Door Number (0, 1, 2, 3)
Key Event (1, 2, 3, 4)

(A:EXIT OPEN:0,bool) => 1 (>K:TOGGLE_AIRCRAFT_EXIT)
(A:EXIT OPEN:1,bool) => 2 (>K:TOGGLE_AIRCRAFT_EXIT)
(A:EXIT OPEN:2,bool) => 3 (>K:TOGGLE_AIRCRAFT_EXIT)
(A:EXIT OPEN:3,bool) => 4 (>K:TOGGLE_AIRCRAFT_EXIT)

Thanks, Bill. It turned out that I didn't capitalize the animation name in the GUID header in the modeldef.xml, but I did capitalize the name in the animation blurb.:rolleyes:

Everything works now.:o
