• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

FS2004 Exporting ground polygons in Gmax

I have two questions...

First... When making a ground polygon using GMAX... as I read I have to take an aerial picture of the airport... I use google earth for this but the problem is that I don't know how much to zoom in !! I mean I can get an aerial picture of the airport being far but when aligning it to the plane it will look blured because I took a picture too far... what to do ?

Second... as I was testing the whole thing, I tried to export the project but a message would show up "MDL Maker can't be found" and this only happens when I have my textures on the plane..

Thx in advance

To get a close up image of the entire airport, one idea would be to zoom in and take smaller aerial pictures. Then stitch the images together in a paint program.

Make sure your folder names, MDL name, and texture names do not have anything but letters in the names, and no spaces. No periods in the folder names either. And make sure to use the period as your Windows decimal separator (Regional options).

Hope this helps,
