• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have about 20 Hangers and scenery I saved before I wiped my hard. They all have an extenion .BGL

Can I use them again or should I start from scratch? Frank!

If you have the textures for the hangers then yes you can use the .bgl files.

David

No Textures were used.

If you didn't texture them, it doesn't matter...they can still be placed in FS.

If the hangars were made by you and you need to get them back in the design software, then you can use Arno's ModelConverterX, downloadable here at FSDeveloper and convert the models to a file format that your modeling software can read/import.

I have got my control Tower as far as The Library Creator and I got it to change to a BGL file. Now I am lost. Where do I go from here? Frank!

Here is a pic of the Control Tower I'm trying to re-install for the FSX Airport.

So it is in a library?

Put that library into an active folder in FSX - say Addon Scenery\Scenery. If there are textures then they go in Addon Scenery\texture.

Now use an object placement program to place that object.

Be aware that if you have no textures but only colors in a FS9 model then the solid colors may not show in FSX. In that case you might need to use ModelConvertX on the model first

I am useing FSX only. Gmax to build my scenery. No colors added other than what's Gmax has to offer, (Basic).

Last year I used "ADE" to place my Buildings into my Airport, but now I have forgotten how to do it. The names do not show in Tools or Library in ADE.

My Airport (CYHM) is enhanced using ADE only. I might mention that my Operating System is Windows 7 Premium 64bit, that may inhibit exporting my buildings. Frank!

To place them with ADE you go to Tools>Library Object Manager. Click the Add button near middle bottom of the display. Navigate to your library and select the file. ADE will tell you if it finds objects in the file and you can add them. Now you will be able to place them by Right Click > Add > Library Object

Thank Ypu Jon, it worked just fine. All I needed was some guidance. Control Tower is just where I wanted. Thank you again. Frank!
