• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Filling in around an Adjusted shoreline?

It's been quite a while since I've done this. I have adjusted the shoreline of this lake and need to fill in the landclass/ground where it has changed from the default. Do I simply add new tiles to those areas or is it more involved?

Thanks!

Same old routine; exclude what's there and put in new to match-up to what you want. Water excludes to a QMID 11 cell, so it might affect more than what you want or want to do.

Hmmm, ok. . . .this is the area I'm working in, so I have to exclude that entire cell and then add landclass back in?

The exclude for the lake will affect any other water in that grid cell. If there is no other water, not a problem. If there is other water, it would need to be added back as it applies to that grid cell.

You can load the default CVX file for that area in TMFviewer, turn on the QMID grid set to level 11 and check to see if there is any other water. Or you can just slew around the area noting the coordinates of each corner and see if you have any other water bodies that might be taken out.

Land class should not be affected, as there *should* be data underneath where the lake is and would be covered back up when the lake is added back.

If you do redraw the entire lake, you can make a copy of that SBX polygon, split it into a line or two and use that for quickie work on the shoreline.

That got it!, There were a few smaller lakes downstream but I just used the background map to trace those out. I still need to remove the old shoreline on those and add a new shoreline to replace, but that's no problem. Thanks for the help!!
