• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Fireworks

Hello,

I am almost a newbie, can anybody guide me as to how I could add fireworks into certain default FS2004 airports.

Regards

You need to find a fireworks effect. there are a bunch in the default setup in the Effects Folder - fx_fireworknn.fx.

You then need to add the effect into your scenery. You can set things like when you want it to display using the effect parameters.

The basic way to do it is write some XML to place the effect and parameters. This needs to be compiled using bglcomp.exe

A simpler way to do this would be to use a scenery design tool which does the work of creating the XML and compiling it for you. Probably the simplest is Arno's Object Place XML.

You might also want to get the Effect SDK for FS2004 which explains a bit more about them and also describes the parameters you can use.

Thanks for the response. Can you please give me some links where i could find each of these, as I am not too familiar with these things.

Sorry to get back to you so soon, I downloaded eveything and got some hang of the software, now I want to add some effects to VOBG, so how do i proceed.

Sorry if this is a basic question.

Well if you have Object Placer XML it has a good user manual which you should read.

When you have set up a new project in the program and it is connected to your flight sim. Move your aircraft to the location where you want the effect. Open the effect list in the available objects panel, find the one you want and right click it. Choose one of the Add Selected Object options and it will be added to the list.

You need to read the effect parameters document which comes with the Effects SDK and then enter the parameters in the effectParams Property.

Follow the manual to generate the scenery bgl.

Hi, sorry to bring this back up again, but I am interested in placing some fireworks effects in a Scenery product that I have developed over the last year. I was wondering, are these tools FSX compatible? I mean, I would like to do the same thing but for FSX.

I was also wondering. Could someone point out as to what parameters I need to fill with whisplacer to place and obtain the fireworks display? I did try using Whisplacer to make the fireworks effect but no success... Is there something I am missing?
